“Tax evasion is a crime against the country, feeding deficits,” Greek Finance Minister George Papaconstantinou told reporters in Athens. The government will tackle the “multifaceted problem” in part by improving audits and chasing outstanding taxes, he said.
The government aims to recoup 1.5 billion euros this year, 4.4 billion euros in 2012 and 5.8 billion euros in 2013, for a total rounded to 11.8 billion euros, according to a document handed out to reporters in Athens
